Hunt Slonem Exhibit at Bayou Teche Museum

The Bayou Teche Museum in New Iberia is excited to announce the unveiling of an exhibit of original art by internationally recognized artist, Hunt Slonem. "Bayou, Birds and Butterflies" will feature several paintings from Slonem's Albania plantation home in Jeanerette, as well as some from other museums and private collections.

George Rodrigue Comes Home

Works of the world-famous artist George Rodrigue are coming to New Iberia's Bayou Teche Museum Jan. 14-June 30, 2015 in an exhibit titled, "George Rodrigue Comes Home: Under Iberia's Live Oaks with George Rodrigue and his Blue Dog," in partnership with the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts.

Artists in Residence Find Inspiration at The Shadows (Interview)

This past spring, National Trust Historic Site The Shadows in New Iberia, Louisiana, welcomed two artists in residence as part of the yearlong Art & Shadows program, funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Visual artist Lynda Frese and fiddler David Greely were selected for the program and have been working at The Shadows to create new works within their respective mediums inspired by the site's history.

Visual artist and University of Louisiana at Lafayette 2013 Distinguished Professor Lynda Frese and traditional French Louisiana musician David Greely, founding fiddler of the Mamou Playboys, have been selected as artists in residence for the Art and Shadows program. With a goal of enriching the culture's art scene, Shadows-on-the-Teche is excited to host the pair. Read more about how the partnership came to be.
