New Iberia, Louisiana, is a small town on the Bayou Teche National Water & Paddle Trail with an abundance of outdoor activities. Nearby Jefferson Island and Avery Island, the home of TABASCO®, offer peaceful garden escapes and rookeries with plenty of wildlife, from alligators to roseate spoonbills.

The area provides ample opportunities for fishing, boating, hiking, biking and bird watching with 24 lakes, 15 public boat launches and two state parks ⎯ Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in the Atchafalaya Basin, and Cypremort Point, a beach on Vermilion Bay in the Gulf of Mexico.
