September at Shadows-on-the-Teche is full of preparations for its partnership with the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival for Farm Fest, Shadows Community Day and a special Sugar Tour!

Farm Fest:

The third annual Farm Fest will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Farm Fest recalls Farmers’ Days of past Sugar Cane Festivals when people from the sugar-growing region celebrated the beginning of the harvest season by honoring farmers who grew the area’s most significant economic crop. Young people, dressed in their version of farmer’s attire with a straw hat and a red bandana, searched New Iberia’s Main Street for festival food and fun. Festival goers can attend Farm Fest with the same expectations for food and fun.

Attendees can enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, Chili Fritos, and other festival fare along with cold beverages, including beer and wine. “Alligator Blue” will provide live entertainment. Sugar, the central product, will be featured during cupcake decorating. There will be a petting zoo for younger attendees. Games will be available for all ages including a special “Sugar Cube Sweepstakes” where everyone is a winner.

“Over the last few years, Farm Fest has been very well received by the young families in the community," says Liz Terrell, Farm Fest Chairwoman. "We are thrilled and excited to, once again, provide good family fun and entertainment.”

Admission is $10 per family. Tickets for food and games will be available for purchase. Minors must be accompanied by adults. Contact the Shadows for more information or with any questions at (337) 369-6446 or email at Shadows@shadowsontheteche.org.
