Shopping at local farmers markets is an experience that engages all the senses. As you stroll through the vibrant aisles, you're greeted by the earthy smell of fresh produce and the colorful displays of fruits and vegetables that change with the seasons. It's a place where food is not just bought but celebrated, where you can meet the growers and learn the stories behind your food. We've gathered a list of our local markets to make it easy for you to pick your next stop.

Delcambre Seafood & Farmers Market

The Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market takes place the first Saturday of the month from March to December (excluding July), 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Visitors can enjoy what's fresh for the season from area farms and local waters, along with tasting opportunities and recipes, live music, kids activities and other special events at Bayou Carlin Cove Boat Landing and Pavilion (605 S. Railroad St.). What makes this market stand out is the abillity to purchase seafood directly off the boat!

Teche Area Farmers Market

The Teche Area Farmers Market is located in New Iberia's Historic District in Bouligny Plaza (102 W. Main St.). You can find homegrown produce and home-made products by area farmers, artists and crafters every Tuesday from 2 - 6 p.m. and every Saturday from 7 - 11 a.m.

Da Berry Fresh Market

Da Berry Fresh Market is New Iberia's West End farmstand. A combination of fresh produce market and job training program, it gives back to the community in nearly every aspect. Located at 520 Hopkins St., the market is open Wednesday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

GLC Farmers Market & GLC Farm Store

GLC (Gonsoulin Land & Cattle) have been raising cattle in south central Louisiana since 1770. The store sells both their products and other local vendors produce and products. The market is every Wednesday from  2 - 6 p.m., but vendors leave their produce in the store all week long as well. The store is open Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m and Saturdays from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Both are located at 6110 Loreauville Rd., New Iberia.
