The Books Along the Teche Literary Festival (April 10 – 12) marks a major milestone as it celebrates its 10th anniversary with Pulitzer Prize–winning author Rick Bragg as the featured Great Southern Writer.
Bragg, known for his lyrical storytelling and unflinching portrayals of Southern life, brings both grit and grace to his work — making him the perfect voice to headline this anniversary year.
About Rick Bragg:
Rick Bragg’s writing captures the heart of the South like no one else. Whether chronicling his own family’s history in the foothills of Alabama or reporting from war zones and small towns, Bragg’s voice is honest, funny, raw, and deeply human.
He began his career as a reporter and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing at The New York Times before turning to books that have earned him national acclaim and loyal readers. His stories are steeped in Southern culture, filled with both reverence and reckoning.

The Books Along the Teche Literary Festival celebrates literature, history, culture, and the arts in and around New Iberia, Louisiana. Since its founding in 2016, the festival has highlighted local and regional voices alongside nationally recognized authors, offering a diverse lineup of panels, performances, tours, and family-friendly events.
The 2026 festival will mark 10 years of celebrating stories that connect communities, honor tradition, and spotlight the unique culture of South Louisiana. With Rick Bragg as its Great Southern Writer, this anniversary festival promises to be the most dynamic yet.
