What to Know Before You Go: Beneath the Balconies

What is Beneath the Balconies?

A free annual event celebrating New Iberia’s culture, history and architecture through live music and theatrical performances from historic downtown balconies.

 

When and where is it?

Sunday, October 18, 2026 in historic downtown New Iberia. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. at Shadows-on-the-Teche, with balcony performances starting at 1 p.m.

 

How much does it cost?

Admission is free.

 

Who’s performing?

This year’s lineup includes:

IPAL performances from Frozen and Fiddler on the Roof
Music from Jersey Boys
The Bunk Johnson Band
The Crooners
The Victory Belles from The National WWII Museum

Is food available?

Yes. Award-winning chef Curt Guillory will serve grits and grillades, grilled coleslaw, a roll and dessert for $15 per meal.

 

Will there be live music before the performances?

Yes. The Fifth Edition will perform from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shadows-on-the-Teche.

 

What should I bring?

A lawn chair is recommended for viewing performances along Main Street.

 

Will drinks and merchandise be available?

Yes. The signature Balcony Breeze beverage and event merchandise, including shirts, bags and fans, will be available for purchase.

 

What if it rains?

The event will move to the Cyr-Gates Community Center at 300 Parkview Drive.

 

Why is Beneath the Balconies special?

For 16 years, the event has showcased New Iberia’s performing arts, historic architecture and community spirit, drawing both residents and visitors to downtown New Iberia.
