The Hot Sauce House is proud to announce the grand opening of Mystery on Main Street, Acadiana’s first and only hot sauce themed escape style mystery experience, located inside the historic manor at 924 E. Main St., New Iberia.
What to Expect:
Guests are welcomed into the original 1935 historic manor, where nearly everything they will touch and see is authentic to the home. The antiques, the furnishings and the fixtures have remained largely unchanged for nearly a century. Before the mission begins, guests receive an exclusive short private screening of the real history behind Louisiana’s most guarded hot sauce legacy tracing the story of J.S. Brown and family and their extraordinary contribution to Louisiana food culture.
From there, guests go undercover as operatives tasked with a single mission. They must find Mr. B’s secret hot sauce recipe before time runs out. Moving through the historic living room and into Mr. B’s private hot sauce laboratory, teams must solve a series of increasingly challenging puzzles using their senses, their instincts and their ability to work together under pressure.
The experience concludes in the manor’s memorabilia room, where guests are invited to view original artifacts and photographs from the home and the founders of Louisiana hot sauce culture. Private sessions accommodate groups of two to eight operatives and last approximately 90 minutes including the historic introduction and post-game debrief.
Cost:
Private sessions are $29.99+ tax per person for groups of 4-8 guests. All sessions are private so there are no shared groups. Guests must be a minimum of 8 years of age. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by at least one adult . Advance booking is required at thehotsaucehousemystery.com.
Hours:
The Hot Sauce House is open Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 8 p.m. however these hours vary in the month of October while the property’s Halloween event Frightmare on Main Street takes place. Private corporate events, birthday celebrations and group bookings are available Monday through Thursday by reservation.
