Cajun cocktail/dinner party featuring music by Bunk Johnson Brazz Band. Local seafood and other tasty south Louisiana dishes will be offered in the gardens of Shadows-on-the-Teche, a National Trust for Historic Preservation site.

The first Friday of each month will feature local Cajun music while remaining Fridays will feature a variety of singers, songwriters as well as local legends. Pie Bar will offer a 10% discount on all menu items, every Monday, to all residents of New Iberia. Residents will simply show their drivers license (or other ID) to receive 10% off their food and drink order. Happy Hour is from 3:14-5pm with beer or a glass of wine at 1/2 price.

The 2024 Great Southern Writer is Natalie Baszile. Her novel, Queen Sugar was named one of the San Francisco Chronicles’ Best Books of 2014, and nominated for an NAACP Image Award, and was featured on Oprah's Book Club. The book was made into a TV series featured on the OWN network. This novel tells the story of the trials and triumphs of a novice black female sugarcane farmer finding her way in the fields of South Louisiana. Book signing will take place after presentation.

Two guided tours will set off on a party barge from the Boat Launch at New Iberia City Park. Tours are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. A local guide will narrate Teche area history and detail local efforts to preserve and maintain the bayou, while highlighting points of interest along the way. The tour returns to City Park. Limited seating.
