David Greely’s musical artistry extends far beyond outstanding performance. He was a founding fiddler in the Mamou Playboys, has performed nationally and internationally; and has accumulated numerous prestigious awards and recognition for his work.

What lies at the root of his creativity? His original music evolves as a work of art from his inspiration, imagination and skill. Born in Baton Rouge, La. of French and Irish ancestry, he immersed himself in the music of the Acadiana region learning historic French music while familiarizing and contributing to current trends in French music.

As the Shadows-on-the-Teche Artist in Residence, he has researched lives of many individuals whose lives were connected to the site over four generations. Utilizing this research, he has explored place at the Shadows allowing it to develop into original work.

Testing sounds inside the home, comparing sound qualities in various exteriors and the gardens, Mr. Greely will share some his experiences with the public who attend a presentation on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Shadows Visitor Center.

The program is free to the public; however, those interested in attending should make a seating reservation. Please call the Shadows at (337) 369-6446 for a seating reservation or email the shadows@savingplaces.org.
