Classic and muscle cars will roll through Iberia Parish for Cruisin Cajun Country Cruise In to be held May 16-18, 2019.

Participants will experience the area's hottest attractions, award-winning New Iberia Main Street historic district and delicious food, while spectators will enjoy free car shows.

"We want the participants to enjoy the Cajun life as much as we do, said John Chauvin, past president of Cruisin Cajun Country.

"Participating in a classic or antique vehicle is an exceptional way to learn the Cajun culture and history, and experience the friendliness of the locals."

What it is:

Cruisin Cajun Country is a non-profit organization that promotes the preservation of classic, muscle, antique and modern sports vehicles, with open membership.

The organization came to be when President Jimmy Chauvin, who used to invite car clubs to his home, decided to form his own cruising event with friends.

Goals:

The organization's goals include enjoying and raising awareness of antique vehicles, increasing revenues in the parishes and donating to various charities.

Over the years, Cruisin Cajun Country donated more than $17,000 to charities.

"One of the things that sets us apart from other clubs is that we build personal relationships with car participants, Chauvin said.

"An example of a unique story: one out-of-town participant’s car broke down, and a member of Cruisin Cajun Country loaded up his vehicle on his own trailer and drove back to Denham Springs, La. The club member ended up buying a car from the participant. A sign of true hospitality Cajun Style!"
